EDWARD TELLO

Eduardo Tello is an artist born in central Mexico, and raised in the US. His parents brought him to the US in 1972 at the age of 6. As a child he exhibited his creative gift in art by winning various art competitions in his early schooling. Later in high school as a senior he became the student of the month for the entire art department. In addition, he had various poems published in the school's yearly literary publication.

Eduardo is really a self taught artist. He developed various techniques in his oil painting, in creating textures, color combinations and other features unique to his style.

In most of the events Eduardo has held, he’s recited his poetry. He initially started doing oil paintings, to illustrate the poetry books he has planned for future publication. In his twenties, Eduardo was completely absorbed in poetry books and poetry subculture. He has recited poetry in countless venues, and he confirms that his oil painting is an extension to his poetry expression.

In 2004 at the Plaza de La Raza art auction, one of his paintings sold at a very favorable price, it was among the highest bid paintings of the professional artists who participated. Part of the proceeds went to Plaza de La Raza as a cultural and educational center. The auction result on his painting and previous sales of his works have established himself as a very good contender in the art market for collectors.

Eduardo is an avant-garde artist in abstract, modern and contemporary art. He experiments extensively to develop new techniques to further his artistic endeavor. If you see the work space of his studio you’ll find all kinds of tools and materials that are out of the ordinary to create his special effects. He doesn’t limit himself to just using oils and a brush. When observing a finished painting, most often than not, you can’t find a trace of the tools and materials he used, that formed and shaped his paintings.

The most important thing Eduardo asserts is consistency in his production of art and promoting his works through different medias. Eduardo with his experience in business management and marketing, has made it really feasible to exhibit in areas of his choosing. He is able to pull of blitz promotional campaigns within short notice and attracts good crowds to his exhibits. He has a team of experienced professionals to further his boundaries through photography, graphics and design, web pages and media representation.
Eduardo has a strong affinity doing his oil paintings, it’s naturally inborn. Marketing and creating a name is very important to him. Having a name in the art field, he finds very viable and an assurance that his clients or collectors can not only appreciate his art for its aesthetic quality, but also as an investment.

In the Artist's Own Words

I am an artist, but above all I am myself. Being myself is beyond my verse or strokes of paint I apply on canvas or whatever I may do with my creativity. I am not also what I create. I am like a stream, I dream and what I create floats above or sinks below. I keep on flowing, my power is being that, to say I am just an artist, would be being less.
